Hangzhou, August 28 /Xinhua/ — Typhoon “Saudel”, the 18th this year, struck the coast of Zhejiang Province /Eastern China/ on Friday, with maximum wind speeds reaching 35 meters per second /12 points/ near the typhoon’s epicenter. This was reported by the provincial meteorological observatory.
“Saudel” came ashore near the coast of the county-level city of Yuhuan in the above-mentioned province at approximately 8:05 a.m. on Friday.
In connection with “Saudel” on Thursday at 8:00 PM, the provincial authorities raised the typhoon warning level to Level I – the highest. Measures were taken to ensure that no people or vessels remained at sea, and relevant work was suspended. -0-
