On the portal “Discover Moscow” Two new online routes appeared for the Shchukino and Sokolniki districts. Citizens are invited to get acquainted with the history and architecture of the districts, as well as to see the sights.

A route dedicated to the district Shchukino, will begin at Panfilovskaya station Moscow Central Circle and will end near the Shchukinskaya metro station. Participants will learn about the history of the Oktyabrskoye field (until 1922 — the Military field) — this is part of the Khodynka field.
In addition, everyone interested will learn about the history of the origin and development of atomic science, examine the architecture of the Kurchatov Institute’s House of Culture, visit the so-called path of discoveries, as well as see the unusual monument “Kurchatov’s Head” and one of the oldest kindergartens preserved in Moscow.
The second walk will take place in the district Sokolniki, where buildings from different eras, styles, and purposes coexist. The route begins near the Sokolniki metro station, whose above-ground vestibule is designed in the style of a park pavilion. The project, awarded the Grand Prix at the 1937 World Exposition in Paris, was created by the architect couple Ivan Taranov and Nadezhda Bykova.
Another landmark is the fire watchtower, built in 1884 according to the design of architect Maxim Geppener. It is still used for its original purpose.
Users of the “Discover Moscow” portal can also appreciate the architecture of the House of Culture named after I.V. Rusakov, built in the constructivist style, and visit the unique Church of the Resurrection of Christ. The route ends in Sokolniki Park, where you can continue your walk on your own.
