Artists of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater named after S.V. Obraztsov performed the play “Brick and Wax” on August 26 for the young patients of St. Vladimir Hospital. The event was held as part of the development of the healing environment concept. The project is being implemented by the capital’s Department of Health and Department of Culture.
The Italian fairy tale “Brick and Wax” is a touching story about searching for one’s purpose in life, about believing in oneself and in one’s dream. The performance is staged in the format of theater in a suitcase.
“We are glad to be part of the ‘Healing Environment’ project because social initiatives are an integral part of the life of our theater, and performances in hospitals provide an opportunity to give positive emotions to those who especially need them right now. As Sergey Obraztsov said: ‘Puppet theater exists to make people happier.’ And we follow the master’s teachings,” shared Ilya Morozov, acting director of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater named after S.V. Obraztsov.
The program of cultural events for the city’s hospitals is being developed by Department of Culture of the City of Moscow. As part of the development of the healing environment concept, they have already been implemented in several capital city hospitals. Among the participants in the program are the Moscow Multidisciplinary Clinical Center (MMCC) “Kommunarka”, the Morozovskaya City Children’s Clinical Hospital (GKB), the S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital, the Moscow Clinical Scientific Center named after A.S. Loginov, and other inpatient facilities.
Thus, on June 16, the symphony orchestra “Russian Philharmonic” gave a concert at the MMCC “Kommunarka”. The Moscow State Theater “Lenkom of Mark Zakharov” performed before the patients and doctors of the city clinical hospital named after I.V. Davydovsky.
On July 7, children at the Morozov Hospital were shown the interactive play “Robinson’s Diary.”
On July 15, a concert titled “Health Like Music Notes!” featuring artists from Mosconcert took place at the A.S. Loginov Moscow Clinical Scientific Center. On July 16, the S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital presented the storytelling play “Children of the Iron Bird” — an inspiring production about science and the first human flight into space.
On July 20, the “Turetsky Choir” concert took place at City Clinical Hospital No. 15 named after O.M. Filatov. The soloists’ repertoire includes world classics, opera, jazz, folk, and popular works. The artists prepared a special program for the hospital’s patients and staff, featuring compositions such as “With Russians, everything is over the top,” “Skylark,” “A Star Called the Sun,” “People in White Coats,” “Where the Motherland Begins,” “We Wish You Happiness,” “The Long Road,” “Cossacks in Berlin,” “Dark Night,” “At Dawn,” “I Love Life,” “Bella Ciao,” “Where the Maple Rustles,” “A Dream Comes True,” “Nightingale,” and “Everything’s Fine, Beautiful Marquise.”
On July 21, artists from Mosconcert visited MMCC “Kommunarka”, and on July 23, tenor Ilya Khardikov performed a program of domestic and foreign works at the S.S. Yudin City Clinical Hospital.
On August 11 at City Clinical Hospital No. 15 named after O.M. Filatov, the Big Jazz Orchestra conducted by Petr Vostokov presented the program “Soviet Jazz,” and on August 12 at the City Clinical Hospital named after S.S. Yudin, soloists from the Moscow Operetta Theater and the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko (MAMT) performed. The program director is Alexey Frandetti, a multiple laureate of the “Golden Mask” award.
Healing environment: Moscow theater groups and orchestras will perform in city hospitals
