The eighth season of the career guidance program “Summer in a new format” has concluded in Moscow. It combined three key projects: “Summer of My Career,” “PROHeroes,” and “Internships.” This year, 3,800 Muscovites aged 14 to 18 participated.
In the “Summer of My Career” project, the participants mastered promising fields through specialized schools — from information technology and creative industries to the transportation sector and hospitality. The “PROGeroi” project provided an opportunity to get acquainted with professions that require particular courage and responsibility — for example, a rescuer or a specialist in the space industry. And the participants of the “Internships” project — young men and women from large families, single-parent families, and families of participants in the special military operation (SMO) — gained professional experience in leading companies of the capital and earned their first money.
“For the eighth consecutive year, the program ‘Summer in a New Format’ has served as an important platform for the professional self-determination of Moscow teenagers. It helps them try themselves in various fields and build initial guidelines for their future careers. A key element is partnership with more than 300 of the largest companies and institutions, as well as leading colleges and universities in the capital. Thanks to such cooperation, participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a real working environment, visit production and educational sites, and communicate with practicing experts. This year alone, 3.8 thousand youths joined the program, and over eight years — almost 24 thousand teenagers,” said the Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow.
“The Summer of My Career”
The project “The Summer of My Career” attracted nearly 1,100 young Muscovites. They were offered specialized schools to choose from. Among the directions were information technology, creative industries, finance and trade, industry, transport, hospitality, and others.
The first stream involved 20 specialized schools where teenagers could try themselves in various roles — from PR specialist, marketer, and entrepreneur to graphic designer, barista, pastry chef, stylist, cybersecurity specialist, website developer, and logistician.
In the second stream, the list of programs expanded: schools appeared in such directions as photography, film production and custom laboratories, drone aerial photography, game development, Moscow transport.
The main innovation of the season was the “Energy School,” developed jointly with PJSC “MOEK” and the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (MPEI). Young Muscovites got acquainted with the profession of an energy specialist, worked on a VR simulator, attended a lecture course on heat supply and digitalization conducted by experts from PJSC “MOEK” and NRU MPEI, participated in workshops, and as the program’s culmination, developed their own projects and successfully defended them before an expert commission. An important advantage of the program is that based on the project defenses, they received additional points for the Unified State Exam (USE), which could play a decisive role in entering MPEI starting from 2027.
“PROHeroes”
More than 650 teenagers participated in the “PROHeroes” project. They chose specialties within five training courses: “Rescuers,” “Aviation and Space Exploration,” “Motorsport,” “Moscow Transport,” and “Young Investigator.” The project allowed the participants not only to broaden their horizons but also to better understand the specifics of professions associated with risk and responsibility, as well as to figure out which personal qualities and skills are necessary in these fields.
Participants learned how rescuers work, tried their hand at motorsports, studied the structure of city transport, and within the ‘Young Investigator’ track, were able to take on the role of a law enforcement officer.
Special attention this year was given to the direction of “Aviation and Astronautics.” Teenagers not only studied the history of the industry’s development but also got acquainted with the structure of civil aircraft and spacecraft, as well as delved into the intricacies of flying airplanes and aviation meteorology. In addition, young Muscovites were told how to enter an aviation university.
“Internships”
More than two thousand teenagers took part in the “Internships” project. Among them were children from large and single-parent families, as well as from families of participants in the special military operation.
They were offered a choice of over 250 professions — from auto mechanic, engineer assistant, and veterinarian to restorer, florist, tour guide, and SMM manager. In 2026, the project was supported by more than 200 partners: Moscow Metro, Mosgortrans, VDNH, the public service centers “My Documents,” Glavarkhiv, the “Moscow Longevity” project, as well as cultural and leisure centers.
Teenagers interned four hours a day for a month. During this time, they not only mastered a specific profession but also learned to work as a team, communicate with colleagues, and responsibly complete tasks. All the young people who completed the internship received a scholarship.
Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, previously stated that the children of participants in the special military operation joined the “Internships” project in 2023, and today this support has become one of the important social highlights of the program.
