Beijing, August 25 /Xinhua/ — The draft amendments to the People’s Republic of China Enterprise Bankruptcy Law were submitted for second reading on Tuesday at the ongoing 24th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC Standing Committee).

These amendments introduce changes and improvements to the rules concerning personal bankruptcy, bankruptcy protection, restructuring, and cross-border bankruptcy.

The current law was adopted in 2007. The first draft amendments to it were presented at the 17th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress in September 2025, and then published for public consultation.

Taking into account the comments received on the first draft, a new section devoted to consultations prior to restructuring was added to the second draft.

In addition, the project improves regulations related to cross-border bankruptcy, as well as clarifies the jurisdiction of Chinese courts and the mechanisms of international judicial assistance.
