Beijing, August 25 /Xinhua/ — Chinese lawmakers on Tuesday began deliberations on a draft amendment to the Road Traffic Safety Law, which includes a new chapter on autonomous vehicles.
The draft amendments clarify the conditions for operating autonomous vehicles on public roads, the principles for documenting traffic violations, as well as insurance mechanisms for such vehicles.
The draft amendments were submitted for consideration in the first reading at the 24th session of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of the 14th convocation, held from Tuesday to Friday.
