More than 700 underground and aboveground pedestrian crossings will be cleaned by specialists urban utilities complex on the eve of City Day, which this year is celebrated on September 5 and 6. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Events are planned to wash 730 underground and glazed above-ground pedestrian crossings. Each structure will be thoroughly cleaned according to a specific technology, and if necessary, special equipment will be involved,” said Petr Biryukov.
During the work, the crossings will not be closed: barriers will be set up on site, leaving a passage for pedestrians.
The underground passages will be cleaned manually, then the walls, granite parapets, and staircases will be washed with high-pressure devices and brushes. If necessary, specialists will paint and repair individual elements of the structures.
Aboveground pedestrian crossings will be cleaned using aerial work platforms. A special solution will be applied to the glazed structures from the outside, then washed off with water using professional high-pressure equipment.
In total, more than two thousand objects are washed in Moscow: bridges, tunnels, underground and overground pedestrian crossings, embankments, piers, fountains, and monuments.
