This year, specialists Moscow’s urban services complex As part of the regional capital repair program, 426 apartment buildings in the Central Administrative District of the capital will be refurbished. Among them are buildings on Rabochaya, Marksistskaya, and Sadovaya-Karetnaya streets.
House from 2002
The tallest building undergoing major renovation is located in the Tagansky district on Rabochaya Street (house 16). The 19-story residential building of a complex shape was built in 2002 based on a standard series project. The main facades feature a vertical row of stained glass windows with square decorative elements, while the end facades have curved lines of balconies.
This year, specialists will renovate the facade. Work began with clearing the exposed surfaces and repairing the plaster layer. Then they treated the areas affected by moisture with antiseptic and strengthening solutions, and restored and plastered the walls where there were holes.
Then the craftsmen will apply new paint, repair the entrance group, transitional balconies, and the base part of the building.
House from 1990
One of the longest buildings in the Central Administrative District—with six entrances—is located in the same area on Marksistskaya Street (building 38). The 17-story building of complex shape was constructed in 1990 according to an individual design. Its end adjoins the neighboring building and it has three through passages. The windows are accentuated by window-sill projections. The street facades are decorated with vertical slats and metal casings on the windows of the technical floor.
The basement premises, facade, and roof will be restored here, and the main engineering system pipelines will be replaced. Specialists will renovate the building’s exterior walls using the “wet facade” technology, which involves several stages. At the first, preparatory stage, they clear and wash the exposed surfaces. Then they apply a primer to the surface and install brackets for air conditioners.
At the moment, specialists are finishing insulating the facade with mineral wool boards. Then it will be plastered with a base layer and fiberglass mesh will be installed. Finally, plaster and decorative layers will be applied, followed by painting. At the same time, baskets for air conditioners will be installed. In addition, the entrance groups will be tidied up, and the blind areas and the building’s plinth will be renovated.
House of 1822
The oldest building in the district, which is undergoing major repairs this year, is located in the Tverskoy district on Sadovaya-Karetnaya Street (house 20, building 1). The four-story residential building was constructed in 1822 in the neoclassical style. The building has a complex shape; the walls are decorated with interfloor belts, window casings, brackets, panels, and segmental arches. The street facades are accentuated by risalits topped with pediments. A crowning cornice runs around the perimeter of the structure.
Specialists are restoring the facade and roof of the building. So far, they have cleared and repaired plaster sections of the walls and damaged segments of the brickwork. The damp areas have been treated with biocidal and antiseptic compositions.
Special attention will be given to the restoration of architectural elements. All facade surfaces will be painted in the historical color. In addition, the drainpipe will be replaced and the entrance groups will be renovated.

Previously, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Urban Improvement Petr Biryukov stated that the capital’s major renovation program is one of the most extensive housing modernization projects not only in Russia but also in the world.
