On August 22, a lecture dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the People’s Architect of the USSR Dmitry Chechulin will be held in the “Moscow Layout” pavilion at VDNH. Visitors will be told about the development of Soviet urban planning and the master’s landmark projects, and afterwards they will be invited to test their knowledge of the capital in an interactive quiz. “The ‘Moscow Model’ Pavilion helps to look at the city’s history in a new way and see how architectural decisions have influenced its modern appearance. The lecture on Dmitry Chechulin will be part of this educational program and will allow visitors to learn more about the capital’s urban development history. The interactive quiz will help consolidate the acquired knowledge and make getting acquainted with the topic more engaging. Such events provide an opportunity not only to see Moscow in miniature but also to better understand the principles by which its appearance was formed,” noted Vladislav Ovchinsky.
The program is designed not only for visitors interested in the architecture and history of Moscow, but also for those who want to learn more about the city in an accessible format. Through the story of one of the prominent architects of the 20th century, guests will be able to imagine how the capital has changed and which ideas influenced its development. Among Dmitry Chechulin’s most famous works are the high-rise residential building on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, the “Peking” and “Russia” hotels, the Moscow metro stations “Komsomolskaya,” “Okhotny Ryad,” and “Kievskaya,” as well as the House of the Government of Russia.
The lecture will take place at 12:10, 15:10, and 18:10. Themed quizzes are scheduled immediately after it (at 12:40, 15:40, and 18:40).
In addition, every 30 minutes from 11:00 to 19:30, there will be lighting shows in the pavilion. Visitors will be able to combine exploring the model of Moscow with a multimedia program.
