Regional Program “Summer Journey” will take place on August 23 at the museum-reserve “Muránovo Estate” named after F.I. Tyutchev. The event is organized as part of the festival “Mansions of Moscow”. The “Moscow Estates” festival, with the special weekend program “Summer Journey,” continues this season to uphold the tradition of leisurely country living. As part of a series of themed trips, city dwellers will have the opportunity to visit historic estates in the Moscow region, connect with the cultural heritage of the area, spend time in nature, and experience the spirit of the 19th century. Participants will learn where famous works were created and get acquainted with the history of the estates.
Event Program
On August 23, Muscovites and tourists are awaited at the Muránovo Estate Museum-Reserve named after F.I. Tyutchev. The estate is closely linked with the poet: the memorial museum was founded by his descendants, and all the exhibits in the house are authentic. The building was constructed based on the design by the poet Evgeny Baratynsky. The exhibition includes Tyutchev’s personal belongings and portraits, his autographs, books, family correspondence, as well as an art collection featuring works by Ivan Aivazovsky, Alexey Savrasov, Vasily Tropinin, and Orest Kiprensky. Tours are led by a descendant of Fyodor Tyutchev who lives here. In the past, literary figures loved to visit Muránovo in the summer, and Nikolai Gogol used to visit along the poetic path from Abramtsevo. Now the estate invites everyone who wants to experience the atmosphere of a place that inspired creators of past centuries.
Events will take place from 11:00 to 19:00. At 12:00, the historical picnic “Breakfast on the Grass. Epistolary” will begin. It is dedicated to the lives of Fyodor Tyutchev and Yevgeny Baratynsky, as well as their views on nature, love, and art.
At 1:00 PM, guests will participate in creating live paintings. First, they will reproduce the famous canvases of Karl Bryullov, and later, at 5:30 PM, scenes and images from the works of Yevgeny Baratynsky, Alexander Pushkin, and their contemporaries.
At 13:30, the quiz “Tyutchev’s Moscow: addresses, estates, destinies” will begin, in which participants will have to recall the capital’s places associated with the life and work of the poet.
From 14:00 to 15:00 and from 16:30 to 17:30, professional actors will read aloud works by Fyodor Tyutchev, Alexander Pushkin, Yevgeny Baratynsky, and Anton Delvig. At 15:00, guests will enjoy a theatrical tea party with a lecture “Tea with History.” It will cover the traditions of Moscow tea drinking, tea etiquette, and the role of this drink in the capital’s culture, as well as an introduction to the history of the signature blend “Moscow” with a tasting. Afterwards, there will be a quiz “Estates of Moscow.”
During the day, visitors will be able to send a postcard, play croquet, pick-up sticks, and gorodki, as well as visit the retro studio to take souvenir photos.
In addition, there will be a gastronomic festival called “Jam Day,” which this year is held jointly with the “Moscow Estates” project. Guests can participate in master classes on making jams, jellies, and preserves, taste treats, and choose their favorite from those prepared by the chefs. Everyone is invited to take part in craft creative activities, a children’s drawing contest, as well as musical and museum programs.
“Summer in Moscow” — the main event of the season, which has already become a good tradition and an integral part of the city’s life.
