Kunming, August 15 /Xinhua/ — As a result of the capsizing of a small boat on Wednesday in Yunnan Province /Southwest China/, two people died and three others are reported missing, local authorities said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday around 6:00 p.m. on the Nanpanjiang River in Huangning County. Six people who were in a boat fell into the water. One of them was rescued, the other five are missing, the county government reported.
In response to the incident, local authorities mobilized over 470 rescuers from emergency services, fire departments, and police, and also organized coordination with neighboring cities and counties to expand the search area.
As of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, two of the missing persons have been found dead. Searches for the remaining missing individuals continue.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the causes of the incident. -0-
