Mount Jinfo, located in the Nanchuan district of Chongqing city in southwestern China, is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The area of Jinfo Park is 1300 square kilometers, and its highest peak reaches 2238 meters above sea level. The unique karst landscape, known as the “karst dining room mountain,” allowed Jinfo Mountain to be included in the World Heritage list.
Jinfo Mountain is renowned for its optimal conditions for winter recreation, serving as a summer resort to escape the heat and for health improvement. Its territory is home to 8,085 species of flora and fauna, including 4,180 species of medicinal plants. The rich historical heritage of Buddhist culture imparts a special spiritual atmosphere to this place.
In 2026, the Nanchuan district officially introduced the international tourism brand “Jinfoshan – Wonder of World Heritage” and invited the whole world to visit this unique mountain.
Mount Jinfo Mountain is the perfect travel destination at any time of the year.
In spring, rhododendrons bloom here. Half a million high-altitude tree rhododendrons are scattered across the primeval forests, blossoming with bright colors and forming a motley ocean of flowers. The mountain slopes fill with scarlet, purple, and pink hues. Resembling tongues of flame or silk banners, they transform the spring landscape into a grand picturesque scene.
In summer, it is cool and fresh here. The highest peak of Jinfoshan reaches 2238 meters above sea level. Most of the mountain area is located at about 1000 meters above sea level, which provides a comfortable temperature, clean air, and protection from city smog. The content of negative oxygen ions reaches 100 thousand per cubic centimeter, and the average air temperature is 10 degrees lower than in downtown Chongqing. It is an ideal place for rest, wellness, meditation, and prayer.
In autumn, the forests shimmer with gold and crimson. From September, the trees and bamboo thickets gradually change color, turning the mountain range into a textured oil painting—bright, rich, and layered. From the end of August, bamboo shoots begin to sprout here, from which locals prepare exquisite delicacies that are definitely worth trying during this season.
In winter, Mount Jinfo appears as a snowy kingdom. The snow cover lasts for more than three months, and the picturesque views – snowy plains, frost, and icy waterfalls – especially delight tourists. It is the best place for skiing and admiring snow near Chongqing. The unique contrast – “an icy world on the mountain, and warm springs at the foot” – offers travelers an amazing combination of cold and warmth.
Jin Fo Shan welcomes guests from all over the world – at any time of the year!
