Beijing, August 6 /Xinhua/ — From January to June 2026, the total value of exports and imports through the Manzhouli railway checkpoint in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Northern China) reached 78.09 billion yuan (about 11.5 billion US dollars), an increase of 34.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while the volume amounted to 11.25 million tons, up 4.4 percent, the government of Manzhouli city reported on its website.
Manzhouli is the largest railway checkpoint on the border between China and Russia and a key hub of the “eastern corridor” within the framework of international China-Europe rail freight transportation. Thanks to the advantages of its geographical location, this border crossing gives a continuous strong impetus to the high-quality development of the country’s foreign trade.
As openness to the outside world continues to expand, the import and export structure through the Manzhouli railway checkpoint is constantly being optimized. Alongside the steady growth of imports such as coal, chemical fertilizers, and other traditional goods, there is significant growth in exports of the “new trio” category products, namely electric vehicles, photovoltaic cells, and lithium batteries. Currently, high value-added products have become a new driver of growth in foreign trade turnover through the Manzhouli railway checkpoint.
The Manzhouli Customs comprehensively implements the “China-Europe Train + expedited customs clearance” model aimed at improving cargo transportation efficiency through three-way data exchange among customs, railway services, and logistics enterprises. Furthermore, relying on the intelligent control platform at the railway checkpoint, the local customs has managed to reduce the overall logistics cycle duration by 1-2 days.
The establishment of the Manzhouli section of the China Pilot Free Trade Zone in Inner Mongolia has become a catalyst for accelerating the development of the Manzhouli Customs Port.
