The V International Transport Summit has started in the capital of Russia — the main global platform for exchanging advanced urban planning experience. As the host, Moscow brought together 200 foreign delegates from 43 countries and 61 megacities. The central theme was the discussion of long-term development strategies, where Government of Moscow presented its Transport Development Strategy until 2030, approved by Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
The summit confirmed the capital’s status as a global hub in the Smart City sector, attracting 16 new countries, including the UAE, India, Kuwait, Tanzania, and Senegal. For the first time, leading Russian regions (including Tatarstan, Tyumen, and Rostov regions) also joined the international dialogue.
The practical result of the work was the signing of 19 cooperation documents, including a Memorandum between Moscow and the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. In addition, for the first time, the Arab city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, joined the international analytical platform UrbanTransportData.
“The summit strengthens the status of a key platform for exchanging experiences. As organizers, we present the results of implementing the 2030 Strategy and together with colleagues from around the world seek answers to the challenges of urban planning. Such dialogue makes transport in megacities more convenient, safer, and more technological,” noted Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
