The priority admission stage involves enrolling applicants who have passed the competitive selection within special, separate, and targeted quotas, as well as winners and prize-winners of all-Russian school Olympiads and Olympiads under the auspices of the Russian Council of School Olympiads.
The results of the priority admission stage have been summed up, and the numbers speak for themselves: high competition for quotas, a large number of Olympiad winners, and sustained interest in targeted training. We see that preferential admission mechanisms are in demand: thousands of applications for special and separate quotas, hundreds of Olympiad winners, and steady interest in targeted enrollment. It is especially valuable that the students approach the choice of university and profession responsibly: Olympiad winners strive to go where they can realize their potential, quota applicants go where conditions are created to reveal their abilities, and targeted students go where training is directly linked to future employment, noted Vitaliy Drobchik, the responsible secretary of the SPbPU Admissions Committee.
Prize-winners and winners of prestigious olympiads are admitted to the university on a priority basis without entrance examinations.
This year, 232 Olympiad winners were admitted to the Polytechnic University without entrance exams.
Admission to places within the special quota is carried out based on the results of entrance examinations. In general, these are the results of the Unified State Exam (USE), however, applicants with disabilities also have the right to take internal entrance examinations regardless of the availability of USE results. Applicants within the special quota are subject to the requirement of overcoming minimum scores to participate in the competition.
Within the special quota at SPbPU, 144 applicants have been enrolled.
A separate quota is a portion of budget-funded places allocated for preferential admission of certain categories of citizens, including combatants, military personnel, and their children. Admission within the separate quota is possible through two paths: based on entrance examination results or without conducting entrance examinations.
A total of 344 people were enrolled under a separate quota.
Targeted training is a form of state-funded education where the student studies at the expense of the government on behalf of a specific enterprise. After receiving their diploma, the young specialist is obliged to work at the ordering enterprise for at least three years.
Within the targeted competition, 1,438 applications were submitted and 328 applicants were enrolled, who have determined not only their field of study but also their future place of employment.
