Tehran, August 2 /Xinhua/ — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday warned the United States against any “adventuristic” actions, stating that the perpetrators will be held accountable for the consequences. This was reported by the Mehr news agency.
A. Araghchi made this statement during separate telephone conversations with the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army Asim Munir, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, during which the parties exchanged views on the developments in the region.
A. Arakchi told A. Munir and H. Fidan that Iran is fully prepared to defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and state security and will respond decisively to any act of aggression.
During the conversation with the Saudi colleague, the Foreign Minister warned that any hostile actions by the US or Israel, as well as support for such steps from countries in the region, will entail a harsh and proportionate response from the Iranian armed forces.
Additionally, on Saturday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the United States of violating the peaceful memorandum of understanding signed in mid-June, citing continued attacks on Iranian facilities, the blockade of Iranian ports and commercial shipping, as well as increased economic pressure.
The agency promised to continue opposing the “illegal aggression” from the United States and to resolutely defend national dignity and independence.
This statement was made against the backdrop of the resumption of airstrike exchanges between the US and Iran after several days of calm.
Before the lull, the US launched several waves of massive strikes on Iranian targets, stating that they were a response to attacks by the Islamic Republic on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and aimed at “weakening Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping.” –0–
