Tehran, August 2 /Xinhua/ — Iranian military sources on Sunday denied the statement by US President Donald Trump that Tehran asked Washington to refrain from strikes, calling his remarks “yet another lie.” This was reported by the Mehr agency.
Military sources also described D. Trump’s post on the social network Truth Social as a desperate attempt to put pressure on the Persian Gulf countries. The Iranian armed forces remain at the highest level of readiness, they added.
Earlier, D. Trump stated that he agreed to suspend strikes on the Islamic Republic. “Iran and other Middle Eastern countries have just approached us with a request to refrain from any attack, as the outlines of an agreement have been agreed upon,” he wrote on Truth Social.
The President also warned that the fate of his decision “depends on the possibility of quickly concluding the deal.” –0–
