Representatives of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took part in a career guidance event of the new Personnel Center “Youth Employment of Russia,” organized with the support of the Saint Petersburg Employment Center, with which the university has longstanding cooperation. The personnel center “Youth Work of Russia,” which opened in June in the Moscow district, became the first specialized venue in Saint Petersburg where young people can build an individual educational and career path — from career guidance testing and getting acquainted with in-demand professions to choosing an educational institution, undergoing internships, and further employment. The center was created to develop a unified city career guidance system that unites schools, colleges, universities, and employers.
While inspecting the sites of the center, Alexander Beglov noted that career guidance work should begin in the school years. According to the governor, one of the city’s key tasks is to help teenagers consciously choose their future profession so that by the time they finish school, they understand in which field they want to develop, where to continue their education, and which specialists will be in demand in the labor market. The governor emphasized the special importance of the interaction between educational institutions and employers in preparing qualified personnel for the economy of Saint Petersburg.
One of the event venues was a workshop held by the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, conducted by the dean of the Automobile and Road Faculty Andrey Zazykhin and head of the Department of Technical Operation of Vehicles Igor Chernyaev.

In an interactive format, school students got acquainted with the educational opportunities at St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU), learned about the programs of the Automobile and Road Faculty, the specifics of training future engineers, and the prospects for the professional development of graduates. University representatives spoke about the demand for specialists in the transportation, road construction, and automotive sectors, as well as about the current requirements that employers have for engineering personnel.
During the center inspection, the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, a 1983 graduate of LISI (now SPbGASU), visited the university site and got acquainted with the work of the faculty. He paid attention to a master class where SPbGASU representatives told schoolchildren about the opportunities for obtaining an engineering education and prospects for professional development in the construction and transport sectors.
The personnel center “Youth Employment of Russia” has modern infrastructure for conducting career guidance events, educational programs, career counseling, and meetings with employers. During the first month of operation, 22 career guidance events were held here, with more than 300 schoolchildren and students participating. The center’s work is based on the principle of individual routing: after career guidance testing, specialists help young people determine the most suitable educational and career path, taking into account their interests, abilities, and the city’s workforce needs.
