Thanks to the implementation of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” comprehensive development of the regional and local road network continues. By the end of 2026, more than 120 facilities are planned to be commissioned, including new road sections and artificial structures. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“We continue the phased work on the development of the regional road network. Only this road season, after construction and reconstruction, we plan to commission 122 facilities, including 66 sections of regional and local roads with a total length of more than 260 km. Among them are new sections of the street and road network, which will help relieve existing city routes, as well as renovated sections of regional highways connecting small settlements with district centers. I note that since the beginning of the year, 14 new road sections and artificial structures have been commissioned,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The implementation of road construction and reconstruction plans is impossible without the advanced development of accompanying infrastructure. Special attention is paid to artificial structures, on the normative condition of which the uninterrupted movement of transport directly depends.
“Many existing bridges and overpasses were built several decades ago and no longer meet the demands of modern transportation loads. It is important to modernize them in a timely manner. In addition, we are constructing new structures that play an important role in redistributing traffic flows. This year, under the national project, after construction and reconstruction, we plan to commission 56 artificial structures with a total length of 4.2 thousand linear meters. To date, six bridges and overpasses have already been put into operation, totaling over 800 linear meters,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
The implementation of major road projects in Russian regions has become possible thanks to uninterrupted federal support.
“The changes taking place in road management over the past few years are hard to miss. Thanks to the support of the country’s President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as with the assistance of the party ‘United Russia,’ which works with public demands, we are able to implement the most ambitious plans and improve the quality of life for Russians both in large cities and in small settlements. By the end of 2025, the satisfaction rate of citizens with the quality and accessibility of regional and local roads reached 59%, which is 10% higher than four years ago,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency, Radik Farazutdinov.
Thus, in the capital of the Chechen Republic, the city of Grozny, the reconstruction of Staropromyslovskoye Highway has been completed. This is one of the most important transport arteries that ensures high-quality transport connections between Grozny and the Groznensky, Nadterechny, and Naursky districts of the republic.
In the Balezinsky District of the Udmurt Republic, a railway overpass on the approach from the regional Igra – Glazov highway to the village of Kestym has been reconstructed. It passes over the Trans-Siberian Railway and is important both for the economic development of the region and for the comfortable movement of local residents.
In Perm, the construction of a road section along Oktyabryat Avenue from Uinskaya Street to the bridge over the Talazhanka River is being completed this year. Its length is 1.2 km. The road will have four lanes, with sidewalks and partially a bike lane. Work on this section is part of the second stage of a major infrastructure project—the construction of a city highway from the interchange with Uinskaya to Tselinnaya. Its length will be 8.3 km, and including local access roads, it will be 24.6 km. The new road will eventually connect the Sadovy microdistrict with the Vyshka-1, Vyshka-2, Visim, and Zaprud microdistricts, as well as relieve adjacent streets. The project implementation is divided into four stages.
In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the reconstruction of a 25-kilometer section of the Chegem-2 – Bulungu highway is planned to be fully completed this autumn. The Chegem-2 – Bulungu highway connects the remote villages of Eltubyu and Bulungu with the republic’s capital. Its reconstruction is of tremendous significance for the local residents: previously, a substantial part of the route had a gravel and crushed stone surface, which complicated year-round travel and increased vehicle wear. Moreover, this is a popular tourist route to the Chegem Waterfalls, the Fly Chegem mountain park, and several high-altitude natural locations.
