Wenchang /Hainan Province/, July 29 /Xinhua/ — The “Long March-7A” carrier rocket, which launched on Wednesday from the Wenchang Launch Center /Hainan Province, South China/, successfully delivered the “Tianlian III-01” satellite into the designated orbit, marking the successful completion of the 50th launch since the opening of this launch center in 2016.

The current launch indicates that China’s new generation of high-thrust launch vehicles are capable of performing stable and frequent launches on a regular basis.

The Wenchang Space Launch Site, located on the coast of Hainan Province, is the first modernized space launch site of a new type designed and built in China, meeting the requirements for ecological and environmental protection.

Currently, there are three launch complexes at the cosmodrome, providing multiple launch azimuth options, all-weather readiness, and the capability to use heavy rockets. The cosmodrome features a low latitude location, a wide range of launch azimuths, high launch efficiency, minimal transport restrictions, and enhanced safety of the areas where rocket stages separate and fall.

Over the past years, the spaceport’s technical specialists have overcome key technical challenges caused by Hainan’s harsh natural conditions, including high temperatures, increased humidity, intensive salt fog, and frequent typhoons.

According to the approved plan, this year the launch of the Chang’e-7 lunar exploration mission will be carried out from the Wenchang spaceport. In the future, launches will also be conducted here for important missions such as the Chinese manned lunar landing program and the first flights of super-heavy class launch vehicles, which will provide strong support for the country’s space programs. –0–
