Chongqing, July 28 /Xinhua/ — The identities of another 30 victims of the landslide in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of the centrally administered city of Chongqing / Southwest China / have been confirmed. This was reported on Tuesday by the headquarters conducting rescue operations at the site.
According to rescuers, as a result of DNA testing and identification procedures of the remains carried out since July 23, the identities of 30 more deceased have been established. DNA profiling of other discovered remains continues.
A geological disaster caused by heavy rains occurred on July 17 at 09:08. More than 10 residential houses were buried under the mountain rock. On July 23, local authorities reported that the number of dead had risen to 11 people, with another 50 reported missing.
