Moscow, July 22 /Xinhua/ — The United States is sending a signal that it wants to see Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Miami. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Marat Berdiev, Ambassador for Special Assignments of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“President of the United States Donald Trump has repeatedly publicly noted that he considers the participation of the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin in the summit beneficial. A similar signal is being conveyed to us by the American sherpa team,” he said in a statement published on the TASS website on Wednesday.

According to the diplomat, the signal from the United States expressing a desire to see the President of the Russian Federation at the G20 summit in Miami is explained by rational logic. “The summit is a platform for leaders to exchange views; their dialogue is more needed than ever today, and without Russia it is impossible to cope with risks and crises in the world,” added M. Berdyev.

At the same time, the diplomat noted that the question of the level of Russia’s participation in the summit remains open for now. –0–
