By the order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, the Deputy Minister Ayrat Gatiyatov together with the rector of NSU Dmitry Pyshny during a working trip to Novosibirsk visited new NSU campus, including the second phase objects — the educational and scientific center Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies (UNTS IMMT) and the Scientific Research Center (SRC) of NSU. The campus is being constructed as part of the national project “Youth and Children”.
Ayrat Gatiyatov gave a high assessment of the readiness of the campus facilities, which are planned to open in 2026.
— The completion of construction and installation work on both buildings is a crucial stage that brings us closer to the opening. The IMMT UNC with its laboratories and advanced simulation center will provide medical students with the opportunity to learn the profession using world-class equipment. The NSU SRC will become a magnet for researchers working at the intersection of biomedicine, photonics, and space technologies. This is not just infrastructure — it is the foundation for new discoveries and training personnel for the entire country. — noted Ayrat Gatiyatov.
The commissioning permit for the building of the UNTs IMMT NSU, with a total area of more than 12,500 sq.m, was obtained on June 23, 2026. It will accommodate over 700 students in the fields of “General Medicine,” “Medical Cybernetics,” and “Psychology.” The new building will house 13 practical training rooms and 8 laboratories specializing in molecular pharmacology, metabolomic studies, medical chemistry, molecular virology, oncology, and other areas.
On the basement floor, covering an area of about 1400 square meters, one of the most high-tech accreditation-simulation centers in Russia for practicing the practical skills of future doctors will be located. Currently, the equipment for the center is being supplied and installed at full speed. In addition to standard medical training simulators, it will include a Disaster Medicine unit and robotic simulators for endovideosurgery, ultrasound, and endoscopic examinations.
The building of the NSU Research Center, with a total area of over 11,000 square meters, will accommodate up to 180 research staff. It will serve as a base for the development of biomedical and pharmaceutical technologies; space instrumentation; photonics and sensor technologies; synchrotron technologies; high-performance computing; accelerator mass spectrometry; paleomagnetic research.
By order of President Vladimir Putin, a network of modern campuses is being created in Russia. By 2030, the country is expected to have a constellation of 25 campuses. The work in this area is carried out by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The project is financed through federal and regional budgets, as well as extrabudgetary sources.
