Beijing, July 22 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Commerce of the PRC on Wednesday expressed sharp indignation and serious concern over the decision of the European Commission to fine AliExpress 550 million euros (about 627 million US dollars) in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act.
The Chinese side firmly opposes attempts by the EU to erect digital barriers under the pretext of regulating platform activities and to take discriminatory measures aimed at restricting and suppressing the normal activities of Chinese e-commerce companies in Europe, according to a statement by the ministry’s official representative.
The Chinese side calls on the EU to stop abusing discretionary powers by exploiting ambiguity in legal provisions and to treat Chinese companies fairly and impartially, said the official representative.
