Manila, July 21 /Xinhua/ — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday expressed the hope that Australia would work together with China to uphold the trend of improving bilateral relations.

Wan Yi, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo, made the corresponding statement during a meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in the Philippine capital Manila.

The Chinese diplomat emphasized that the parties should overcome differences based on mutual respect and equality, seek common ground for resolving disputes, and create a positive cycle of progress in relations, without allowing biases to hinder or harm this process.

The head of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed hope that Australia would adhere to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and abandon double standards. –0–
