A concert dedicated to the chamber music of Johannes Brahms and César Franck will take place at the Zaryadye Concert Hall.
On the program — Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 1, created in his youth and reworked 30 years later, combining the freshness of the original idea with mature mastery of polyphony and motivic development. Also featured is Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor — one of the pinnacle works of 19th-century French chamber music, in which the chamber ensemble acquires a symphonic scope, and continuous thematic development unites the movements into a dramatic narrative.
The performance allows one to follow how two composers solved the challenges of cyclic form and instrumental dialogue.
