Hanoi, July 18 /Xinhua/ — Heavy rains have caused sudden floods and landslides in Lai Chau province in northern Vietnam, resulting in four deaths, seven injuries, and four people missing. This was reported on Saturday by the Vietnam News Agency.
The natural disaster destroyed 13 houses in the area, and about 100 more houses are under threat of landslides, the report says.
Heavy rains also caused damage to housing, crops, transport infrastructure, and energy facilities. The total economic damage is estimated at more than 120 billion Vietnamese dong /approximately 4.75 million US dollars/, the report notes.
