Shanghai, July 17 /Xinhua/ — China and Cambodia should continue the tradition of strong friendship established by the senior generation leaders of both countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Hung Manet is in China to participate in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 and the High-Level Conference on Global Artificial Intelligence Governance, as well as on a working visit.

Both sides should substantively expand the framework of the China-Cambodia cooperation “Diamond Hexagon” and elevate the formation of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era to an even higher level, Xi Jinping stated.

According to him, both sides must accelerate the construction of the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor,” modernize traditional sectors such as electric power and agriculture, and also stimulate emerging industries like artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

Both sides must jointly combat cross-border crimes such as the production of counterfeit products, smuggling, online gambling, and telecommunications fraud, he continued.

Xi Jinping noted that strengthening the ceasefire regime between Cambodia and Thailand and gradually establishing mutual trust serve the fundamental and long-term interests of both countries. China supports Cambodia and Thailand in seeking a solution through dialogue and consultations and is ready to continue playing a constructive role, he said. -0-
