First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov held a thematic session, the key topic of which was the use of interceptor drones in the zonal-object air defense system. In addition, the First Deputy Prime Minister reviewed the exhibition of projects from industrial enterprises and scientific organizations.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Vasily Osmakov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak, representatives of the Military-Industrial Commission board, defense industry enterprises, and research centers.
The session participants discussed the tactical and technical requirements for interceptor drones and their role in the zonal-object air defense system, the experience of their combat use to provide protection for critically important civilian facilities, as well as the capabilities of industrial enterprises to increase their production.
“Today it is necessary to clearly define the requirements for UAV interceptors to combat medium- and long-range drones. Also, approaches need to be developed to ensure mass production of models with different modes of application. Bearing in mind those launched ‘by hand’ as part of mobile fire groups or from launchers of anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes. It is important to standardize components and optimize costs for serial production. To use interceptors more effectively, their interaction with detection, target designation, and control systems must be improved. It is also essential to ensure the integration of these products with other means of combating UAVs. It is important for us to be one step ahead of opponents. To increase the speed and maneuverability of domestic products, their autonomy, guidance accuracy, and the possibility of group use,” noted Denis Manturov.
“Air defense organization is built on a unified information and control system, and operational data processing is carried out using advanced information technologies, including those based on artificial intelligence,” emphasized Vasily Osmakov.
Deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Vasily Shpak, emphasized the importance of ensuring the collection and processing of all types of data, including from acoustic, thermal, and optical systems for detecting enemy UAVs.
Participants of the thematic session also viewed an exhibition of projects from industrial enterprises and scientific organizations. In particular, interceptor drones in various configurations, new air defense systems, ground robotic complexes for countering drones, ground communication and control stations for UAVs, specialized software, and software-hardware complexes were presented.
