Beijing, July 14 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese side is deeply concerned about the resumption of military conflicts in the Persian Gulf region and calls on the involved parties to exercise restraint and maintain the hard-won ceasefire. This was stated on Tuesday by the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Lin Jian.

Answering a relevant question at a regular briefing for journalists, the Chinese diplomat called on the involved parties to avoid the resumption of war and, more importantly, to prevent the expansion of the combat zone and harm to even more innocent people.

Respecting the legitimate rights and interests of the countries located on the shores of the Strait of Hormuz, and the swift restoration of normal and safe navigation in the strait, is what the entire international community strives for, emphasized Lin Jian. He added that the involved parties need to move towards each other and find ways to properly resolve conflicts. –0–
