Sana’a, July 14 /Xinhua/ — The Yemeni Houthi group stated on Monday that it launched ballistic missiles and drones at Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia. The operation was reportedly carried out in retaliation for Saudi Arabia’s airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport earlier the same day.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea stated in a televised address broadcast on the Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah channel that the target of the operation was Abha airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, which was struck by “several ballistic missiles and drones.”
“The operation successfully achieved its objectives,” said Ya. Saria, without disclosing details about possible casualties or damage.
He called on airlines not to use Saudi Arabian airspace until restrictions on flights to and from Sana’a International Airport are lifted.
Y. Saria also stated that Saudi Arabia will bear responsibility for any consequences of the recent escalation, promising that Houthi forces will take further measures to end the “blockade” of Sana’a airport. –0–
