The Student Scientific Society of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade at SPbPU won second place in the IV Interregional Competition of Student Scientific Societies of Higher Education Institutions of the Northwestern Federal District 2025 in the nomination “Best SSS of HEI in the NWFD in a specific field of knowledge.” Thus, the SSS of IIME&T confirmed the high level of organization of student scientific activity at the university.

The competition is being held for the fourth time. It aims to identify and support the most effective models of student scientific activity. This year, representatives from 27 higher education institutions of the NWFD participated. The evaluation of the SNO’s activities was conducted by an expert commission in two stages:

  1. Submission of application documentation and a set of materials confirming the quantitative and qualitative performance indicators of the SNO.
  2. Public defense of the presentation covering the main areas of work, implemented projects, and key achievements for the current academic year.

Based on the results of two stages, the Student Scientific Society of IPMEiT took second place in the category “Best SNO OOVO of the NWFD in a certain field of knowledge.”

In early July, a ceremonial award ceremony was held for the winners and prize-winners of the competition. Polytech was represented by Margarita Yanchevskaya, Chairman of the Student Scientific Society of IPMEiT and a master’s student at the Higher School of Service and Trade; Vadim Shabunin, Deputy Chairman, a master’s student at the Higher School of Business Engineering; as well as the curator, Associate Professor Victoria Brazovskaya of the Higher School of Engineering and Economics.

This achievement is a confirmation of the important role of students in creating innovative projects that serve as the foundation for the further development of science, the economy, and the public sphere. Student scientific societies, bringing together proactive and talented researchers, contribute to the formation of competencies necessary for the implementation of significant scientific and socio-economic tasks.

For the Student Scientific Society of IPMET, such competitions are of colossal importance. They are not only an external evaluation of our activities and a stimulus for constant development, but also a unique platform where students see the real significance of their research. A prize place in a competition of this level is the result of the painstaking work of the entire Student Scientific Society team, our supervisors, and, of course, the keen interest of students in science. It inspires us to support youth projects and involve even more talented young people in the world of scientific discoveries, — commented the chairperson Margarita Yanchevskaya.

The high evaluation received from the competition committee is evidence of the methodologically structured approach of the IPME&T Student Scientific Society to integrating students into scientific research activities. The society’s work is not limited to the educational function in the field of science but also focuses on developing and implementing practical tools to support student initiatives, covering a range from the initial stages of academic writing to the realization of complex interdisciplinary initiatives.

Second place in the interregional competition of student scientific societies of the Northwestern Federal District is a recognition of the work of the entire team of the IPMEiT Student Scientific Society. This achievement confirms that an effective environment for the development of student science, the implementation of research initiatives, and the formation of professional competencies of future specialists has been created at the institute. We see how each year the interest of students in scientific activities grows, new projects emerge, and the research culture is strengthened,

Recognition of the achievements of the SNO IPME&T opens new horizons for further academic cooperation and promotes the scaling of best practices and the training of personnel capable of addressing the current challenges of modern science.
