A ceremonial diploma awarding for professional retraining was held at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for graduates of the “Pedagogical Start” program, implemented as part of the “Priority 2030” initiative. This is already the second generation of future young teachers who have successfully completed their training by following the “Intern” professional development path and are ready to come before students with their new status.
A distinctive feature of this year’s graduation was the strategic focus on engineering fields. Among the graduates receiving diplomas were future teachers of physics and higher mathematics. For Polytech as a leading engineering university, a strong fundamental training is an absolute priority, and renewing the staffing potential of these departments is the most important achievement of the program.
During the retraining program, master’s and doctoral students not only learned from the experience of mentors at the Polytechnic University but also mastered advanced educational technologies. The curriculum included modules on interactive pedagogy, psychology of effective interaction, as well as innovative practices in the use of artificial intelligence, creation of AI avatars, and educational chatbots. The program concluded with the defense of their own segments of online courses in the university’s electronic information and educational environment.

“The ‘Pedagogical Start’ program definitely sets the right development vector for a teacher. Although I already have technical knowledge and have wanted to teach for a long time, many nuances of this work were unknown to me: from documentary support to teaching technologies, — shared an intern and graduate student of the Higher School of Power Engineering Andrey Shirokikh. — The “Pedstart” program has filled these gaps, and now it will be easier to integrate into the work.
