Nanning, July 11 /Xinhua/ — Around 13:30 on Saturday, one of the main roads leading to the administrative center of Zhenlong township in Hengzhou city, located in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (GXAR, South China), was preliminarily opened to traffic. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency correspondents on the scene of the rescue operations.
With a permanent population of about 8,000 people, this settlement became an “isolated island” due to relentless heavy rains. Starting from July 5, the settlement of Zhenlong was cut off from the outside world – roads were blocked, power supply was cut off, and there was no Internet access.
According to rescuers, the opening of the main road is of great importance for the delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as for the restoration of electricity supply and communication in this area.
