On board the destroyer “Kaifeng,” July 9 /Xinhua/ — The naval forces of China and Russia on Thursday began conducting live-fire naval exercises in designated areas near the city of Qingdao /Shandong Province, Eastern China/.
The maneuvers are part of the “Maritime Interaction-2026” exercises, which began on Monday and consist of three stages: force gathering, port planning, and sea operations.
According to the exercise plan, the maritime phase includes practicing actions for joint reconnaissance, air and missile defense, as well as coordinated operations for the search and rescue of the crew of a conditionally distressed submarine.
Before the maritime phase, the Chinese and Russian military personnel participating in the exercises conducted a series of exchange activities ashore, including visits to each other’s warships.
