Hangzhou, July 8 /Xinhua/ — The authorities of Zhejiang coastal province /East China/ on Wednesday activated the emergency response mode due to the approach of Typhoon “Bavi” to China, the ninth this year.
The Zhejiang Provincial Headquarters for Flood, Drought, and Typhoon Control has urged coastal local authorities to closely monitor the development of the typhoon and make full preparations, including organizing shelter for key vessels, safeguarding fishing boats in ports, suspending sea routes, and closing marine tourism facilities.
According to the provincial meteorological service, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Typhoon “Bavi” was located over waters approximately 1580 km southeast of the city of Keelung, Taiwan.
The typhoon “Bavi” is forecasted to move westward at a speed of about 15-20 km per hour, then gradually turn northwest on Wednesday evening. -0-
