Geneva, July 8 /Xinhua/ — China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, Jia Guide, delivered a speech on “Overcoming Differences in the Field of AI” during the first session of the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held here on Monday.
Jia Guide said that artificial intelligence (AI) fundamentally changes the landscape of countries’ development and the architecture of global governance. All parties must adhere to the principle of universal benefit and inclusiveness, support the role of the UN as the main channel of interaction, and focus on capacity building to create an inclusive, open, sustainable, fair, secure, and reliable future in the field of digital intelligence. Digital sovereignty means that countries have the right to independently choose AI-based products without pressure or taking anyone’s side.
Jia Guide emphasized that China, which advocates the development of artificial intelligence and is a pioneer in this field, has proposed the Global Initiative on AI Governance and helps countries share the benefits of AI. According to him, in 2026 China will host the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and a high-level meeting on global AI governance. China hopes for active participation from all parties in overcoming differences in the AI sphere. –0–
