After the establishment of the new Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province, Baiyangdian Lake has become the subject of the most extensive systemic ecological restoration in its history. Thanks to a set of measures such as enhanced environmental monitoring and control, cleaning and dredging of the entire basin, pollution source management, regulation of water resource replenishment, and wetland restoration, a historic breakthrough was achieved in improving water quality. By 2021, the water quality in Baiyangdian Lake was successfully upgraded to Class III and has remained stable at this level for five consecutive years.
