The reconstruction of the student club of Smolensk State Medical University (SSMU) of the Russian Ministry of Health, founded in 1920, has been completed. Today it is a leading center of medical science, personnel training, and medical work, uniting 8 faculties, more than 60 departments, and a pre-university training center. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“Creating a comfortable and multifunctional infrastructure based on the universities of our country contributes to the development of student activity. After all, the younger generation chooses educational institutions not only based on the level of teaching but also on the conditions in which they will both study and reveal their creative potential. In the medical university in Smolensk, specialists from PPK ‘Unified Customer’ have completed the reconstruction of the student club, and permission for commissioning has been obtained. I am confident that this modern facility will become a center for cultural initiatives, which will increase the level of student involvement in university life,” said Marat Khusnullin.
After the completion of the reconstruction, the area of the facility amounted to 2 thousand square meters. The renovated building features spacious lecture halls, administrative offices, a modern conference hall, and an assembly hall. Additionally, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, and costume rooms appeared there for student creative groups, as well as a volunteer center.
“At the SGMSU base, builders previously completed the first phase of work on the construction and reconstruction of the university’s building complex – specialists built a new automated gas boiler plant with a capacity of 8.5 MW and updated more than 1.5 km of engineering networks. In addition, the construction of a new student dormitory is planned to begin in 2026,” noted Karen Oganesyan, General Director of PPK “Unified Customer.”
