Systematic renewal of public transport in the regions continues in Russia. Over the past week, the State Transport Leasing Company has delivered 45 new buses on preferential leasing terms for operation on routes in seven regions of Russia. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“Comfortable and safe trips depend, among other things, on the condition of the rolling stock. Regular renewal of buses, trolleybuses, and trams yields results. Thanks to various mechanisms of federal support, modernization is taking place both in large cities and in small populated areas. This allows for a gradual reduction in the amount of worn-out transport and improves people’s quality of life. For example, in the past week, an additional 45 buses were delivered to the Chuvash Republic, Tyumen, Tambov, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, and Lipetsk regions, as well as Krasnodar Krai. Since the beginning of 2026, GTLK has delivered 554 new buses to the regions under preferential leasing conditions. Of these, 543 units were supplied under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia’s preferential leasing program, and 11 units under the Ministry of Transport of Russia’s preferential leasing program within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”, ” said Marat Khusnullin.
Since the beginning of the year, with the participation of the mentioned mechanisms, new buses have been received by 22 regions: Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Voronezh, Kurgan, Leningrad, Lipetsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Sverdlovsk, Oryol, Tambov, Tula, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Ulyanovsk regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Komi Republic, Mari El, the Chuvash Republic, and Moscow.
The work on updating public transport in 2020 was included in the national project “Safe and Quality Roads” and continued from 2025 under the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” More than 20,000 vehicles were updated during 2020–2025, including 15,300 buses, trolleybuses, trams, and electric buses under the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
