Financial News: UN Security Council Measures Regarding the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On October 21, 2022, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2653 (2022), providing for restrictions concerning Haiti, including in the financial sector.

In accordance with paragraph 6 of resolution 2653 (2022), for an initial period of one year from the date of its adoption, there is a requirement to freeze funds or other assets of a person included in the annex to resolution 2653 (2022) or individuals or legal entities listed by the United Nations Security Council Committee on Haiti, as well as individuals or legal entities acting on their behalf or under their instructions, or legal entities owned or controlled by them. At the same time, the provision of any funds or other assets to the aforementioned persons is prohibited.
