Almaty, July 5 /Xinhua/ — The concept of Chinese modernization implies not a mechanical copying of foreign development models, but the search for its own path, taking into account the characteristics of Chinese civilization, national traditions, modern technological changes, and the long-term interests of society. This was stated in an exclusive interview with Xinhua by Serik Korzhumbaev, chief editor of the newspaper “Business Kazakhstan.”
The Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrated its 105th anniversary on July 1, 2026. As S. Korzhumbaev noted, for Kazakhstan and the entire Central Asia region, this anniversary holds not only political but also practical significance. “China today is one of the key economic partners of our country, an important participant in Eurasian logistics, investments, industrial cooperation, and interregional dialogue. Therefore, understanding the logic of China’s development is no longer a matter of external curiosity, but part of the professional analysis of the modern international agenda,” he said.
According to the expert, one of the key features of the Chinese political model called leadership of the country is the principle of people-centeredness. He believes that the official ideology of the CPC is based on the idea that strategic decisions must be made taking into account the long-term interests of society. This explains the particular focus on issues of poverty eradication, regional development, improving the quality of education, healthcare, and social protection.
According to S. Korzhumbaev, the concept of Chinese modernization implies not a mechanical copying of foreign development models, but the search for its own path, taking into account the features of Chinese civilization, national traditions, modern technological changes, and the long-term interests of society. “This very model is currently actively discussed by experts in many countries as one of the significant independent scenarios of modernization. For Kazakhstan, it is especially important to understand that Chinese modernization has not only an internal but also a regional dimension. The development of China’s western regions, infrastructural connectivity, new transport corridors, energy projects, and trade routes directly affect Central Asia. Chinese modernization is effectively becoming one of the factors transforming the entire Eurasian space,” the expert noted.
S. Korzhumbaev added that as China’s economic and political influence grows, so does the international role of the CPC. The PRC consistently advocates for the development of multilateral cooperation, the expansion of international trade, the strengthening of global security, and the promotion of the concept of a “community with a shared future for mankind.” “Amid persistent geopolitical tensions, Chinese diplomacy emphasizes the need for peaceful development, respect for international law, and mutually beneficial cooperation. From Kazakhstan’s perspective, this agenda carries a special significance. Our country traditionally supports a multi-vector foreign policy, dialogue of civilizations, respect for sovereignty, development of international trade, and strengthening of regional stability. Therefore, many elements of Chinese foreign policy rhetoric find understanding in Central Asia, where predictability, economic cooperation, and the absence of confrontational logic are particularly valued,” our interlocutor stated.
Speaking at the solemn meeting dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the CPC, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping emphasized that the party must maintain strategic confidence and steadily fulfill the tasks of the new era. According to S. Korzhumbaev, these words reflect the key directions of China’s development for the coming decades. “In China’s political culture, the concept of a ‘new march’ has a deep symbolic meaning. It is connected not only with historical memory but also with the idea of continuing a long-term national project. For Chinese society, it is an image of movement, overcoming difficulties, mobilization, and belief in achieving a strategic goal,” he said.
As S. Korzhumbaev noted, the global interest in the CPC is also explained by the fact that the Chinese experience raises important questions for experts. How can a state combine long-term planning and market dynamics? How to connect tradition and innovation? How to maintain social stability amid rapid economic changes? He believes that China’s answers to these questions are important for understanding that the modern world is becoming more multipolar not only in a geopolitical sense but also in a managerial sense. The expert stated that different countries seek different development models, and the Chinese path has become one of the most discussed examples of such an independent choice.
“One thing is clear: it is impossible to understand modern China without understanding the role of the CPC. And the 105th anniversary of the CPC is not only an occasion to sum up the long historical journey but also an opportunity to reflect on what the next stage of China’s development will be and what influence it will have on international relations in the 21st century,” summarized S. Korzhumbaev. –0–
