Beijing, July 3 /Xinhua/ — China’s state railways transported more than 2 billion tons of cargo in the first half of 2026, an increase of 1.8 percent compared to the same period last year, reported the state corporation “China Railway” /CR/ on Friday.
Cargo rail transportation services on the China-Europe route also maintained steady growth: during this period, 11,178 trips were made, contributing to the uninterrupted operation of domestic and international logistics channels.
The company stated that in recent years it has accelerated the development of a modern railway logistics system by expanding logistics hubs, specialized railway lines, and freight equipment to better serve industrial and agricultural supply chains.
On Friday, the railway operator signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives in Beijing. Both parties will deepen cooperation in the regular freight transportation of Xinjiang cotton, grain from northern regions of China to the south, as well as imported fertilizers.
The new services are expected to improve the turnover of agricultural materials, reduce logistics costs, and contribute to the formation of a unified national market as well as the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas, the company reported.
