Saint Petersburg, July 3 /Xinhua/ — From January to June 2026, 679.8 thousand new cars were sold in the Russian Federation, which is 12 percent more than the same period last year. This was reported on Friday on the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
According to the report, passenger car sales amounted to 610.3 thousand with a 16% increase, while light commercial vehicle sales were 40 thousand /a decrease of 18%/. In June, the new car market totaled 127.6 thousand units, which is 26.4% more than in June 2025. 115.8 thousand passenger cars were sold, representing a growth of 29.3%.
The domestic automobile market exceeded 431 thousand units in six months, increasing by 29.3 percent compared to the level for the same period last year.
