Tehran, July 2 /Xinhua/ — The official spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Bagai, stated on Thursday that officials from more than 100 countries will attend the funeral ceremony of the deceased Supreme Leader of the country, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In an interview with the Iranian state television channel IRIB, the diplomat stated that among the foreign guests will be heads of state, speakers of parliaments, foreign ministers, special envoys of governments, as well as a large number of prominent figures and representatives of influential social groups.
As E. Bagai pointed out, the farewell and burial ceremonies of the late supreme leader are considered an event of “historic and very important” significance for the Iranian people.
An official representative of the Iranian foreign ministry clarified that the mourning events will begin in Iran’s capital Tehran on the morning of July 3 with the participation of public figures and groups, after which they will continue in the afternoon in the presence of high-ranking foreign officials and political figures. –0–
