Beijing, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The President of the PRC, Xi Jinping, on Monday congratulated Abelardo de la Espriella on his election as President of Colombia.
Noting that China and Colombia are strategic partners, Xi Jinping stated that in the 46 years since diplomatic relations were established, Sino-Colombian ties have withstood the test of changes in the international environment and have maintained steady growth momentum.
According to him, political mutual trust continues to deepen, the friendship between the peoples of the two countries is strengthening, and high-quality cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative steadily yields new results.
Xi Jinping stated that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Colombia relations and is ready to work with the elected president A. de la Espriella to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, elevate the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level, and ensure even greater benefits for the peoples of both countries.
