Hohhot, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The founding meeting of the China-Russia Agro-Institute of the Future of the Agricultural University of Inner Mongolia was held on Tuesday in Hohhot /administrative center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, North China/.
The joint institute was founded by the Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and the Altai State Agricultural University.
This institute is the first joint educational institution involving a foreign university in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the establishment of which was approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
The new institute will offer three bachelor’s degree programs – zoology, agronomy, and veterinary medicine. The duration of study for some programs will be four years, and for others – five years. All the aforementioned specialties will be included in the admission plan for the country’s general higher education. The first enrollment of students will take place in September this year.
The rector of the Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Liu Yongbin, noted that the establishment of this institute is based on a high degree of alignment between the disciplinary strengths and geographical features of both universities. The research directions of both universities largely coincide, and the goal of the cooperation is to combine strengths, share resources, and jointly address key technical issues in regional agriculture.
Upon completion of their studies, students who have successfully met the requirements of the universities will receive diplomas from both the Chinese and Russian universities.
