Washington, June 30 /Xinhua/ — US President’s special envoy Stephen Wittkoff is heading to Doha, CNN reported on Monday citing two American officials.
It is not yet clear whether the son-in-law of the US president, Jared Kushner, is on board with him, the statement added.
This trip followed conflicting statements by the US and Iran about a potential meeting.
Early Monday morning, without any details, US President Donald Trump stated on social media that Iran had requested a meeting in Doha on Tuesday.
A delegation consisting of Iranian experts will visit Qatar this week to achieve the unfreezing of Iranian assets, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Monday.
