In Moscow, the results of the XII All-Russian Engineering Competition 2025/2026 were summed up. As a result of the large-scale competition, which brought together more than 13,400 students and graduate students from 257 universities in 85 regions of the country, a graduate student of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures (RCMS) of the Faculty of Construction at SPbSASU became a prize-winner.Pyotr Alekseyev.

The competition, held annually since 2014 by order of the President of the Russian Federation, is one of the key mechanisms for integrating talented youth into the real sector of the economy. The organizer is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and the operator is the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI.” This year, the finalists included 120 participants from 60 universities across 35 regions, 61 of whom were awarded the title of winners, and another 56 were prizewinners. Projects were evaluated in 12 categories covering 58 fields of study, based on topics proposed by leading industrial partners, among whom are the State Corporation “Rosatom,” PJSC “RusHydro,” the State Corporation “Roscosmos,” and others.

Pyotr, who had previously successfully advanced to the semifinals and participated in the VIK_Fest-2026 festival in Moscow, presented a research project titled “Anisotropy of Tensile Strength of Stone Masonry Walls in Historical Buildings” for the competition. Based on the results of the project defense before the State Examination Commission, which included leaders of leading corporations and federal agencies, he was among the prize winners of this prestigious contest.

“For us, graduate students and students of the Faculty of Construction, participating in such a large-scale competition is a unique opportunity not only to test our abilities but also to present our own scientific research to leading industry experts. The feedback received allows us to see the real demands of the industry and adjust our own scientific trajectory,” noted Pyotr Alekseev.

The winners of the competition are awarded targeted prizes, valuable gifts, and letters of appreciation from partner organizations, and they also receive advantages when seeking employment in leading state corporations and enterprises of Russia. Pyotr Alekseev’s achievement confirms the high level of engineering training at the university and the demand for graduates of the Faculty of Construction in leading industry structures.

A finalist of the All-Russian Engineering Competition was also a master’s student of the Department of Construction Production TechnologyAlesya Pogoda.
