Moscow Metro has confirmed the status of one of the most reliable and efficient mass transit systems in the world. During peak hours, the interval between train services is just 90 seconds, and schedule adherence accuracy reaches a record 99.9%. Such high operational indicators place the capital’s metro among the absolute leaders among global megacities in terms of managing intensive passenger flows efficiently.

Stability and safety of the system are ensured by continuous modernization of infrastructure and large-scale renewal of rolling stock. On the line, trains of the new generation “Moscow-2026” are actively running, developed with a focus on advanced ergonomics. The capacity of one such train exceeds 1,500 people. In the new trains, the legroom between seats is significantly expanded, and the seats themselves have become more spacious and comfortable thanks to an innovative design without metal joints.
From the point of view of modern ecological urbanism, one component of “Moscow-2026” replaces about 1,000 private cars on the roads. Thanks to this, the metro cardinally reduces the daily load on the city’s above-ground road framework, minimizing traffic jams, optimizing urban traffic, and significantly reducing the total volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
“By directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we are constantly working on improving the quality of services. Our movement schedule is 99.9% fulfilled — the Moscow Metro is one of the most punctual in the world. An accurate timetable allows passengers to effectively plan their travel time. The capacity of the modern train ‘Moscow-2026’ is comparable to approximately 1,000 private cars. Thanks to the enormous carrying capacity, the metro significantly reduces the load on the city’s road network,” noted Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov.
